Helge Taubert

Helge Taubert was born in Chemnitz, Germany, in 1958. He is married with 2 children. He studied biology at the Martin-Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), from 1979 to 1984. He worked at the Institute of Genetics at the MLU (with Professor G. Reuter) with thesis “Genetic control of cell proliferation in Drosophila melanogaster. The effect of five “discless” mutations in the female germ-line,” 1987. He received a Habilitation from the Institute of Pathology at the MLU (with Professor F.-W. Rath) with thesis “Molecular-pathological investigation of tumor-suppressor genes and oncogenes in soft tissue sarcomas,” 1999. He obtained Venia legendi in genetics (1999) and molecular pathology (2007). He also served as a Scientific Researcher at the Institute of Genetics MLU from (1984–1991), and as a Leader of the Molecular Pathology/Tumor-associated genes Group in the Institute of Pathology MLU (1991–2008). He worked at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Plastic Surgery MLU as a leader of a research group, from September 2008 to September 2010, as a C2 Assistant (2000), and as an Extraordinary Professor (2007). He has been working at the Clinic of Urology of the F. A. University Erlangen-Nurnberg, since October 2010, as W2 Professor, and as a Leader of the Department of Molecular Urology. He received several awards including “Forschungsförderungspreis” of MLU Halle-Wittenberg, 1988; “Forschungsförderungspreis” of MLU Halle-Wittenberg, 1997.
