Chris M. Gonzalez

Chris M. Gonzalez obtained his medical degree from the University of Iowa prior to completing his general surgery and urologic residency training at Northwestern University in Chicago. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Northwestern University Department of Urology, and recently he obtained his M.B.A. degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He is the clinical practice Director for the department, and was the Chief of urology for Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Lakeside Division, until its closure in 2006. He currently serves as the Chairman for the AUA North Central Section’s Young Urologist’s Committee, and was recently selected as a Member of the AUA Leadership program. Dr. Gonzalez's clinical interests include male urethral reconstructive surgery, health policy, prostate cancer screening, and minimally invasive surgery. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers, and was awarded an NIH SPORE project pilot grant to study prostate cancer screening amongst Hispanic men. In the area of health policy, Dr. Gonzalez currently serves on the AUA Clinical Practice Guidelines Benchmarking Committee.
