Masaru Murata works as an Associate Professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Health Sciences University of Hokkaido, Kanazawa, Japan, since 2007, and a Visiting Professor in the Pioneer Dental College, Dhaka, Bangladesh, since 2013. He holds a D.D.S. degree from the School of Dentistry, Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan (1982–1988), and a Ph.D. degree in oral surgery from the Postgraduate School of Dentistry of the same university (1989–1993). Murata also served as a Researcher in the field of medical biology, University of Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France (sent by the Ministry of Education, Japan, 1995-1996); an Assistant Professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Health Sciences University of Hokkaido from 1997 to 1999; and a Lecturer at Health Sciences University of Hokkaido from 1999 to 2007. He received the following awards: 2010 President Award, 6th Asia Science Seminar, Taiwan; 2005 President Award, Health Sciences University of Hokkaido; 1999 Distinguished Paper Award, Society of Hard Tissue Biology; and 1995 Distinguished Paper Award, Japanese Society of Oral Implantology. Murata also holds the following licenses: 2009, Director, Japanese Academy of Maxillofacial Implants; 2007, Specialist, Japanese Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons; 2007, Specialist, Japanese Society of Oral Diagnosis/Oral Medicine; and 1988, Japanese license of Doctor of Dental Science.
