Jonathan E. Colman

Jonathan E. Colman was born in Hartford, Conn, USA in 1970. He received his Cand. Scient. and Dr. scient. degrees from the University of Oslo, Department of Biology, in 1995 and 2000, respectively. Since his arrival to Norway in 1992, Colman has been studying and/or working at the University of Oslo, Department of Biology in the field of ecology. In 2006, he was offered a position as an Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Department of Ecology and Natural Resource Management. Presently, he divides his time 50/50 at the two universities. In addition, he works with large herbivore grazing ecology, ecological interactions between large animals and human development and activities, restoration ecology, and more recently fish ecology. Colman has developed and holds a number of graduate courses, focusing on restoration ecology and ecological restoration, environmental impact assessments, evolution of life history strategies, and global ecology. He is a Board Member of the Norwegian Zoological Society, a Member of the Society for Ecological Restoration, and Chairman and Cochairman for a number of international congresses.
