Fuzhai Zhai Cui is a Professor of biomaterials science and the Director of the Institute for Regenerative Medical and Biomimetic Materials, Department of Material Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Cui obtained the M.S. degree in materials science, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, 1978–1981 and the Ph.D. degree in materials science, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, 1981–1984. In 1986–1988, Cui was a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the FOM Institute for Molecular and Atomic Physics, Amsterdam, Holland, since 1992, a Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering Tsinghua University, in 1997.3–7, a Visiting Scholar, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass, USA, in 1998–2007, a Director of the Biomaterials Lab, Tsinghua University, since 2005, a Member of the Editorial Board, J. Mater. Sci.: Mat. In Med since 2007, a Fellow, AIMBE, and since 2008, a Fellow, International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering. In 2000 May 15–20, Cui was a Cochair of Symposium: Connective Tissue Engineering, 6th World Biomaterials Congress, Hawaii, in 2008 October, the Chairman, 10nd International Symposium on Biomineralization, Lianyungang, China, since 2005, a Member of the Editorial board of Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Medicine; Journal of Bioactive and Compatible Polymer, In 2006–2010, the Editor-in-Chief, Biomedical Materials, since 2008, a Member of Editorial board, Journal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, since 2007, a Member of the Editorial board, Tissue Engineering, and since 2009, a Member of the Editorial board, J. of The Royal Society: Interface. Cui's current research interests include biomaterials, bone tissue engineering, biomineralization.
