Pilar Sánchez Andrada

Universidad de Murcia, Spain

Pilar Sanchez Andrada was born in Badajoz, Spain, in 1967. She obtained a degree in chemistry in 1990 at the University of Murcia, and obtained a Ph.D. degree from the same university in 1997. She then joined the theoretical chemistry group of the Instituto de Química Médica (CSIC) studying molecular modeling and computational chemistry applied to hydrogen bonds and heterocumulenes under the supervision of I. Alkorta and J. Elguero. She came back to the University of Murcia joining the synthetic organic chemistry group leadered by M. Alajarin as a Research Fellow, Assistant Researcher, and now as an Associate Professor. Her current research activity includes the elucidation of organic reaction mechanisms by computational calculations, especially of pericyclic and pseudopericyclic reactions, chemistry of heterocumulenes, and synthesis of heterocycles.
