Youlian Pan received his Ph.D. degree in biology and M.S. degree in computer science from Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS, Canada, in 1994 and 2002, respectively. His research interests include data mining, machine learning, artificial neural networks, bioinformatics, functional genomics, and systems biology. His research applications include biological and medical data analysis and numeric modeling. Pan is currently a Research Officer at the National Research Council (NRC), Canada, and leads a bioinformatics research team at the NRC Institute for Information Technology.
