Bea Vuylsteke serves as an Associate Professor at the HIV/STI Epidemiology and Control Unit, Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium. She received her M.D. from the University of Leuven, Leuven, Belgium, in 1984. In 1992, she joined the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium, where she worked as STI Advisor in FHI’s AIDSCAP program. She was also based in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, to provide technical assistance and leadership for the implementation and evaluation of HIV prevention programs among high risk groups in Côte d'Ivoire. Vuylsteke's experience includes the design, implementation and evaluation of HIV interventions for high-risk populations; strategies for the control of sexually transmitted infections in developing countries; and epidemiological research design, implementation, and analysis.
