Jonathan Hewitt obtained his M.S. degree in epidemiology and the M.D. degree in 2006 (University of London, UK). He is a Consultant Stroke, Geriatric, and General Physician at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. He is also an Honorary Consultant in stroke medicine at the Western Infirmary, Glasgow, UK. He is also a Member of the Ethics and Governance Council of the UK Biobank. Dr. Hewitt is particularly interested in diabetic, vascular, and surgical epidemiology in the older person. He is also interested in biobanking, especially the many and complex ethical issues which it raises. He has a broad experience of stroke, acute and community geriatric medicine, and general internal medicine. Dr. Hewitt has published numerous originals and review articles in the area of diabetes, hypertension, and carotid doppler studies.
