Ying Huang received the M.D. degree from the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou, China in 1982 and the Ph.D degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Md, USA in 1994 in molecular biology and genetics of cancer. From 1994 to 1996, she was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Derald H. Ruttenberg Cancer Center Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York. She was an IRTA Fellow at the National Institutes of Health from 1996 to 1999. She was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, Upstate Medical University and State University of New York in October 1999; she later was promoted to Associate Professor (with tenure) in July 2005. Presently, Huang is an Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, Upstate Medical University. Her research is in the areas of cancer biology and signaling with focus on oncogenes, tumor suppressors, kinases, and cell death and survival signaling. She is also studying natural compounds for development of cancer therapies.
