Arno Lukas studied biochemistry and received his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry at the University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria. He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for theoretical chemistry, University of Vienna, the National Research Institute (CNR), Bologna, Italy, Humboldt University Berlin, Germany, and the Los Alamos National Lab, USA. He is a Founding Member and Managing Partner of emergentec biodevelopment GmbH, Vienna, Austria. His hands-on translational research expertise spanning from discovery to preclinics includes successful implementation of licensing deals and successful realization of life sciences IT solutions. Moreover, he is an inventor of various patents covering novel diagnosis and therapy of chronic diseases. He is a member of the management team of national and large-scale European Union projects. His publications and book contributions are in the area of computational chemistry, bioinformatics, systems biology, and life sciences IT.
