Qiji J. Zhu

Qiji J. Zhu was born in Changchun, China in 1956. He received his B.E., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in applied mathematics from Jilin University of Technology, Zhengjiang University, China, and Northeastern University, USA in 1982, 1984, and 1992, respectively. Zhu joined the faculty of Western Michigan University in 1994 and works presently as a Professor of Mathematics. His research interest is in the area of variational analysis and its applications in optimization and finance. Moreover, he coauthored the book Techniques of Variational Analysis (with J. Borwein) and held various visiting positions in the University of Montreal, Simon Fraser University, University of Victoria, Canada, Fudan University, Peking University, China, National University of Singapore, and University of New Castle, Australia.
