Miroslav Fojta

Miroslav Fojta received a Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Biophysics Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (Supervisor Professor E. Palecek) from 1992 to 1995. He studied in Charles University, Prague, Faculty of Science with specialization in enzymology (Supervisor Professor S. Léblová) from 1985 to 1990. He received the Habilitation degree from Masaryk University, Brno, in 2005. Fojta served as Associate professor of molecular biology from 1992 to 1996. He served as Head of the Department of Biophysical Chemistry and Molecular Oncology (DBCMO) in the new IBP structure, since 2007. Fojta receivedt Award of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic, in 2001. He also received the Otto Wichterle Premium in 2003. His current research interests are biophysical chemistry, electrochemistry of nucleic acids and proteins; DNA structure in solution and at interfaces; nucleic acids biosensors, DNA labeling; chemical reactivity of DNA and proteins, DNA damage; relations between DNA structure and function, DNA supercoiling; interactions of nucleic acids with proteins, tumor suppressor proteins; development of biosensors and bioassays.
