Hayato Ohshima
Hayato Ohshima, D.D.S., Ph.D.: Dr. Ohshima is an anatomist who specializes in the oral anatomy and oral histology & development. He graduated from Faculty of Dentistry, Niigata University, passed the National Examination for Dental Practitioners (D.D.S.), and received a Ph.D. from Niigata University Graduate School of Dentistry. His research has focused on pulp biology and tooth development: He aims at the realization of pulpal or/and periodontal tissue regeneration on the basis of clarification of the mechanisms regulating the pulpal healing following tooth injuries such as cavity preparation and tooth replantation/transplantation in addition to the tooth development. Dr. Ohshima is an educational and research professor in the Faulty of Dentistry, Niigata University and the Niigata University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences (Division of Anatomy and Cell Biology of the Hard Tissue, Department of Tissue Regeneration and Reconstruction). Dr. Ohshima serves on the executive committee of the Japanese Association for Oral Biology and the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Oral Biosciences. In addition, he belongs to several academic societies: International Association for Dental Research (IADR), Japanese Association of Anatomists, the Japanese Society for Clinical Molecular Morphology, International Society of Histology and Cytology, Japanese Society of Microscope, Japanese Dental Education Association, and Niigata Dental Society. He has about 90 publications in the PubMed and has refereed manuscripts for about 30 journals.
