Francesca Pons was born in Minorca, Spain, in 1959. She obtained her degree in medicine in 1982 and her Ph.D. degree in 1987 from the University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain. In 1989, she obtained the specialization in nuclear medicine and in 1996 the European Certification in nuclear medicine. From 2003 to 2007, she was a Member of the Steering Committee of the European School of Nuclear Medicine and the Chair of the European Board of Nuclear Medicine Fellowship Examination Committee. Presently, she is the Head of the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Hospital Clinic, Barcelona, a Professor of nuclear medicine at the University of Barcelona, the President of the Spanish Society of Nuclear Medicine, a National Delegate for the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), a National Delegate for Nuclear Medicine Section of the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes (UEMS), and a Member of the EANM Oncology Committee. Her main research field is nuclear oncology. She has published 130 scientific articles in journals indexed in SCI and has more than 400 scientific contributions presented at national and international meetings. She is a Member of the Editorial Boards of the journals Medicina Clínica, Revista Española de Medicina Nuclear, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Turkish Journal of Nuclear Medicine, Türkiye Klinikleri Journal of Medical Sciences, and the International Journal of Molecular Imaging.
