Samir Kumar Patra

Samir Kumar Patra obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in biochemistry (1997) from the University of Kalyani, West Bengal, India. His Ph.D. thesis work was on the molecular mechanisms of abnormal bilirubin deposition and jaundice. Dr. Patra spent two postdoctoral training sessions: one on membrane lipid rafts biology at the University of the Basque Country, Bilbao, Spain (1997–1999), and another on DNA-methylation, epigenetics, chromatin modification enzymes, and cancer at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Calif, USA (1999–2002). He was an Academic Trainee at the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, McGill University, Montreal, Canada (2002–2004), and taught at the University of Burdwan as well as institutes at Kalyani, West Bengal, India. He has been an Investigator at the Cancer Epigenetics Research, Kalyani, West Bengal (since 2004). Currently, Dr. Patra is a Visiting Scientist at the Department of Experimental Medicine, University of Parma, Italy.
