Sevgi Bayari received her M.S. degree in astrophysics from the University of Ankara. In 1989, she finished her Ph.D. thesis in molecular physics. In 1995, she became an Associate Professor in atomic and molecular physics. In 2001, Bayari became a Professor at the University of Hacettepe. She was a Visiting Researcher at the De Montfort University (UK, 1997) and at The Institute of Photonic Technology (Germany, 2008). Her research focuses on the conformational and vibrational properties of molecules, Fourier transform IR microspectroscopy, and Raman microspectroscopy of biological and medical samples.
