Dale Bergren received a B.A. degree in biology with a minor in chemistry in 1973 from Carroll College in Helena, Mont, USA. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physiology and pharmacology in 1975 and 1976, respectively, from the University of North Dakota, ND, USA. His postdoctoral fellowship was at the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of California at San Francisco, from 1977 to 1979. His first academic appointment was at the School of Medicine, Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from 1979 to 1985. Since then, he has been a member of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, School of Medicine in Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska. He also serves on the Editorial Board of Respiration Physiology and Neurobiology.
