Mohammad Reza Yaftian

Mohammad Reza Yaftian received his B.S. degree in chemistry in 1988 from Shahid Beheshty University, Tehran, Iran; his M.S. degree in analytical chemistry in 1990 from Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran; his Ph.D. degree in physical and analytical chemistry in 1998 from Louis Pasteur University, Strasbourg, France. His doctoral thesis is entitled “Molecular evolution of mitochondrial genomic structures in gastropoda molluscs.” Yaftian occupied the posts of a Lecturer from 1990 to 1992, of an Assistant Professor from 1998 to 2003, and of an Associate Professor from 2003 to 2007 at the Department of Chemistry at Zanjan University, Zanjan, Iran. Then, he has been serving as a Professor since 2007 at the same department. His research interests include analytical applications of macrocyclic compounds, solvent extraction, preconcentration and sample preparation, transport through liquid membranes, complexation of metal ions (synthesis and stability constant determination), preparation of ion selective electrodes, and environmental analytical chemistry.
