Dr. Nicaise earned his Ph.D. degree in biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences in 2010 from Université Libre de Bruxelles, Bruxelles, Belgique. He is currently running a postdoctoral training in neuroscience at Thomas Jefferson University Medical College under the guidance of Angelo C. Lepore, Philadelphia, USA. Dr. Nicaise is a member of several scientific societies and serves as reviewer for numerous journals dedicated to neuroscience. His current research interest focuses on the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative processes of the spinal cord with emphasis on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and spinal cord injuries. Through a collaborative network established with Institute Pasteur in Paris and Croatian Institute for Brain Research, he has also developed in his laboratory stem cell-based therapies for neurodegenerative disorders.
