Jinhua Shi obtained his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Strathclyde University, UK in 1997. He is also Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers UK. He currently works for AMEC, Clean Energy, Europe, as Capability Lead, Structural Integrity. Before that I worked in both industries and universities for Serco, Babcock, University of Strathclyde, Hebei Power Design and Research Institute, and Hebei Technology University. He has published more than 25 papers in international journals and international conferences. He has expertise in pressure vessel and piping design codes such as ASME boiler and pressure vessel code, ASME B31, PD 5500, EN 12952, EN 13445, and EN 13480, and he has extensive experience of structural integrity assessments using R5 (high temperature creep-fatigue crack initiation and crack growth), R6 (low temperature defect tolerance assessment), and BS 7910 in support of nuclear power safety cases and plant life extension projects.
