Gilles Lerondel received his Ph.D. degree in 1997 from Joseph Fourier University Grenoble in France. He then joined as a Senior Scientist the Italian National Institute for Matter Physics (INFM). In 1999, he worked as a JSPS Fellow at the Institute for Materials Research (IMR), Tohoku University, Japan. In 2000, he joined University of Technology of Troyes (UTT), Troyes, France, and was appointed as an Associate and Full Professor in condensed matter physics in 2005 and 2010, respectively. His general research interests include multifunctional nanomaterials and photonics including material synthesis (solution based), nanostructuring, and associated optical instrumentation (near field microscopy and spectroscopy).
