Tadamichi Shimizu works as a Professor and the Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, Graduate School of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Toyama, Toyama, Japan. He received M.D. (1986) and Ph.D. (1992) degrees from Hokkaido University School of Medicine, Sapporo, Japan. Between 1991 and 1993, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, Fla, USA. In 1993, Shimizu returned to the Hokkaido University Hospital, Japan, and served as an Assistant Professor during 1996–2005, and since 2005 he serves as a Professor and the Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, University of Toyama. His main research fields include photoimmunology, allergy, and inflammatory cytokines. Shimizu received the JSID’s Fellowship SHISEIDO Award and the Japanese Society of Interferon & Cytokine Research Award in 2004, the Japanese Society of Allergology Abbott Japan Allergy Award in 2005, and Rohto Award from Society of Geriatric Dermatology in 2001.
