Axel G. Griesbeck

Axel G. Griesbeck was born in September 7, 1958. He got his Diploma from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, Bavaria, Germany, in 1980. Between 1980 and 1984, he received his Ph.D. degree from the same university under the supervision of Professor Klaus Gollnick. He finished his postdoctoral works at the University of Würzburg under the supervision of Professor Waldemar Adam (1984-1985); the ETH Zürich, Switzerland, under the supervision of Professor Dieter Seebach (1986-1987); the Weizmann-Institute of Science, Israel, under the supervision of Professor Ernst Fischer (1987). In 1993, he worked as a Guest Professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wis, USA. Since 1994, he has served as a Professor at the University of Cologne, and in 1996, a Guest Professor at the National Institute of Materials and Chemical Research, Tsukuba, Japan. Griesbeck was the recipient of the Grammaticakis-Neumann Prize of the Swiss Society for Photochemistry and Photophysics (1997). In 2006, he became a Guest professor at the Chemistry Research Promotion Center NSC Taiwan. During the peiod of 2006 and 2007, he was a Member at the IUPAC OBC Division-Subcommittee on Photochemistry. From 2001 to 2009, he has become a Chairman and a Vice-Chairman of the Photochemistry Section of the German Chemical Society.
