Jerónimo Forteza

Jerónimo Forteza is the Chair of Pathology, School of Medicine, University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), the Head of the Pathology Department, Hospital Clínico Universitario Santiago de Compostela (Spain), and a Coordinator of the Cancer Area of the Instituto de Investigaciones Sanitarias of Santiago de Compostela (IDIS), Spain. Between 1961 and 1967, he gained a Medical degree in Licenciatura en Medicina y Cirugía (15 magna cum laude), Medical School of the University of Valencia (Spain); in 1970, a Ph.D. degree from the School of Medicine (summa cum laude) and Best Academic Performance Award, Universidad de Valencia (Spain). In 1985, he worked as a Full Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Galicia, area of hospital management. He finished his education at Department of Pathology, Fundación “Jimenez Díaz”, Clínica de la Concepción, Madrid (Spain) (1967–1968) and at Department of Clinical Physiology (Centro de Investigación Clínica Básica) and Pathology, University of Ulm (Germany) (1968–1971). Forteza is a Member of the European Board of Pathology (1998).
