Jill Hohenstein is a Senior Lecturer in psychology and education at King’s College London, London, UK. Originally from the United States, she obtained her B.A. degree in psychology from UC Berkeley, an M.A. degree in research psychology from San Francisco State University, and a Ph.D. degree in developmental psychology from Yale University. Dr. Hohenstein’s research focuses broadly on the relationship between language and cognition in adults and children. Research projects take two different approaches to this topic: potential influences the structure of language may have on linguistic and nonlinguistic thought, particularly using cross-linguistic analyses and second language acquisition of motion event language; means of learning through conversation, especially informal conversation, by way of questions and explanations (with a special focus on learning about science). Each of these lines of research has addressed questions that examine child and adult learning.
