David G Costa
David G Costa received the Electrical Engineering degree from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Recife, PE, Brazil, in 1967, and the Ph.D. degree in mathematics from Brown University, Providence, RI, USA, in 1973. Before moving to USA in 1992, he worked as a Professor at the Universidade de Brasília, Brasília, DF, Brazil. He was a Member of the Advisory Committee of the National Research Council of Brazil (CNPq) as well as Treasurer and Vice President of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (SBM). During his permanence in Brazil, he was a Visiting Scholar at various institutions in USA, Italy, Portugal, Spain, China, and Australia. Since 1993, Costa has been working as a Professor at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, NV, USA. His main interest and expertise are in partial differential equations, particularly through the use of variational and topological methods.
