Finn Egil Tonnessen

Finn Egil Tonnessen received the Senior High School Certificate (Baccalauréat) from France; the Ph.D. degree (magistergrad) with thesis "Philosophical Logic: an analysis of non-tautological identity statements"; the M.Phil. degree in theology; the Ph.D. degree (dr.philos.) in psychology with the thesis "The etiology of dyslexia." Tonnessen is Professor of special education at Stavanger University College and has also taught logic and philosophy of Science at the Open University in Rogaland County for about 15 years. Since 1990, Tonnessen has authored or coauthored about 100 publications. These publications are mainly in the following areas: 1) reading readiness, reading habits, and the teaching of reading; 2) written culture/information society; 3) basic research problems in the field of dyslexia; 4) inheritance factors and mechanisms in dyslexia; 5) dyslexia and comorbidity; 6) dyslexia, senses, and perception; 7) dyslexia and automatic processes/attention; 8) treatment and prevention of dyslexia. Several of the projects are cross-disciplinary and international.
