Stilianos Fountas works as a Professor of economics at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece. He joined the Department of Economics at the University of Macedonia in April 2002. He worked previously at the Department of Economics at the National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland. He has held visiting appointments at the York University, York, UK, and the National University of Ireland. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in economics from Athens University of Economics and Business, Athens, Greece, and his Ph.D. degree from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA. He has taught courses in econometrics, macroeconomics, monetary economics, international finance, and money and banking at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has also taught mathematical economics. His research interests include applied macroeconometrics, international macroeconomics and finance, monetary economics and banking, and European monetary integration. He has published 50 papers in refereed journals and has presented his work in over 50 international conferences.
