Hugo Cardoso joined the Department of Archaeology at Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, Canada, in May 2013, after a full time professorship at the University of Porto Medical School, in Portugal. Previously, he had been a Researcher and Curator at the National Museum of Natural History in Lisbon. He is an experienced Human Skeletal Biologist and a Bioarchaeologist with several years of laboratory and field work experience. Since 2007, he began undertaking forensic anthropology case work as a Consultant in Portugal. Hugo Cardoso also received training in epidemiology and has been involved in historic archival research. He has earned his Ph.D. degree in anthropology from McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada, in 2005, and was the recipient of the CAGS-UMI (Canadian Association for Graduate Studies-University Microfilms International) distinguished dissertation award in the following year.
