Pilar Soengas was born in Vigo, Spain, in 1972. She received the Biology degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in 1996. She received the Ph.D. degree from the University of Vigo, Vigo, Spain, in 2001 (summa cum laude). She did a postdoctoral stay at Horticulture Research International (WHRI) from 2001 to 2003; afterwards, she was working at Misión Biológica de Galicia (from 2003 to 2006) and at the University of A Coruña (from 2006 to 2009), A Coruña, Spain, until she got a permanent position at Misión Biológica de Galicia, as a Tenured Scientist. She is mainly interested in the study of phytogenetic resources, breeding of yield, and resistance to pest and diseases of brassicas and also in the study of their antioxidant properties.
