Faheem A. Sheikh

The University of Texas-Pan American, USA

Faheem A. Sheikh obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune, and Barkatullah University, Bhopal, India. After finishing his preliminary education he worked as Project Assistant at Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu. Thereafter, he went on to pursue his higher studies and completed his Ph.D. degree at Chonbuk National University, Jeonju, South Korea. His theses work involves synthesis, characterization, and biomedical applications of PVA/polyurethane based nanoparticles and nanofibers. Previously, Dr. Sheikh had worked at Myongji University, South Korea, as a Research Professor in the department of Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology. He successfully fabricated a lot of nanomaterials which proved to have safe application as antimicrobials and wound healing, and in energy production. In August 2010, Dr. Sheikh had joined, as a Research Associate Scientist, the department of Chemistry at University of Texas-Pan American, Edinburg, Tex, USA. His research interests include fabrication nanofibers by electrospinning, natural antimicrobial, colloidal solutions, organic and inorganic blend nanofibers, and improvement of mechanical properties in nanofibers using different nanosize fillers. His dream includes making breakthrough in agriculture by using nanotechnology approaches.
