Paolo Angeli

Paolo Angeli was born in January 26, 1954, Roana-Vicenza, Italy. He works as an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the School of Medicine, University of Padua, Italy. He graduated from the University of Padova, specializing in medicine and surgery in 1980. He joined the Specialist Board of Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in 1984 and the Specialist Board of Internal Medicine in 1989. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in medical pathophysiology from the University of Milan in 1994. He was a Fellow at the Liver Unit of Hospital Clinic Provincial, Universitat de Barcelona, Spain, from 1992 to 1994. He works as an Associate Professor of internal medicine since December 2002. He serves as the Head of a research group working on the pathophysiology and complication of portal hypertension and liver transplantation, and this group collaborates jointly with several Italian and foreign research centers. He serves as the Scientific Director of the Laboratory of Experimental Hepatology of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, University of Padova. He authored more than 100 original articles in international journals such as Cell, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Gut, Journal of Hepatology. He is a Member of various scientific Society such as AISF, EASL, and AASLD. He serves as an Associate Editor of Journal of Hepatology and as a Reviewer for Hepatology, Gut, American journal of Gastroenterology, European Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Liver International.
