Frédéric Arenou graduated in mathematics and computer science at Paris-Sud University and obtained his Ph.D. degree in astronomy in 1993 at Paris Observatory, where he has CNRS Research engineer permanent position in the GEPI Department. His main scientific interests are in orbits of binary systems and statistical analysis of astronomical data. He contributed to the Hipparcos ESA astrometric satellite with its input catalogue, then the astrometric data reduction and validation. Since 1997, he is participating in the preparation of the Gaia ESA mission with the on-board software processing and the simulation and data processing of multiple stars.
