Stefano Leporatti
Stefano Leporatti was born in Rapallo, Genoa, Italy, in 1967. He received his Laurea degree in physics from the Università of Genoa, Italy, in February 1995, and his Ph.D. degree in fisica dello stato solido (Dr.Rer.Nat.) from the Universität Potsdam, Iatly, in July 1999 (tutor: Professor Dr. Helmuth Möhwald). From February 1999 to February 2001, he was a Postdoc at Max-Planck-Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (Professor Dr. H. Möhwald). From August 2001 to April 2006, he was a Research Scientist (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) at Leipzig University (Professor Dr. E. Donath). Since May 2006, he has been a Senior Researcher and a NanoCarriers and BioMechanics Group Leader at the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (NNL) of CNR-NANO in Lecce, Italy. He published more than 100 publications (more than 48 in peer-reviewed papers, 3 book chapters, and two invited reviews) on biophysical nanostructures. He has participated to more than 80 conferences/workshops and has given 18 invited talks. His total citation index is above 1800 with a number of citation per year of more than 100 and an h-index of 20 (stand in January 2012). Moreover, he is currently leading a group of 2 Ph.D. students, 3 graduate students, and 1 postdoc and a tutor of several M.S./Ph.D. students and a Referee of peer-reviewed journals (e.g., ACS Nano, Nanomedicine, Langmuir, JCIS, etc.). His research interests include nanomedicine, confocal laser scanning microscopy and scanning force microscopy, molecular and colloidal force spectroscopy, layer-by-layer (LbL) polyelectrolyte, multilayers, colloidal microparticles, cytomechanics, nanocarriers (nanocolloids, nanocapsules, and nanotubes), and halloysite clay nanotubes.
