Paolo Durando was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1973. He gained his Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Genoa, Italy, in 1999, with full award. He attended a specialization Course in Vaccinology in 2001, and he specialized in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine at the University of Genoa, in 2003, with top marks and distinction. In the academic year 2002-2003, he was a winner of a nationwide competition for a position as a University Researcher at the University of Genoa, in Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health. Since 2006, he has been First Order Medical Doctor within the Hygiene Operational Unit of the San Martino Teaching Hospital of Genoa, Italy. Since 2008, he got his Ph.D. in Vaccinology at the University of Genoa, Italy. In 2012, he was a winner of a nationwide competition for a position as Associate Professor of Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the Medical and Pharmaceutical School of the University of Genoa. Since 2013, he is the President of the Master’s degree in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences Course of the University of Genoa. Professor Durando has published over 70 full-length articles in a number of scientific international journals, and almost 100 abstracts in the proceedings of international and national conferences, conventions and conferences, in which he participated, often as a speaker. He is also author and co-author of several book chapters. He joins the Editorial Board of the following scientific journals: BioMed Research International, Journal of Preventive Medicine and Hygiene, The Open Vaccine Journal, World Journal of Experimental Medicine and Vaccinare Oggi e Domani. He is on the Review Board of a number of renowned, international journals, such as the Journal of the American Medical Association, BMC Infectious Diseases, BMC Public Health, the European Journal of Public Health, Expert Reviews in Vaccines, Plos-One and Vaccine.
