Pedro J. Correia
Pedro José Realinho Gonçalves Correia (P. J. Correia) was born in 1964 in Portalegre (Portugal). He finished his Ph.D. thesis in 1996 at the University of Lisbon. Currently, he is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Algarve (Faro). The main scientific research area is plant nutrition with particular emphasis on nutritional stresses. Other scientific areas of interest are soil fertility and ecology of slow growing crops and studies on the optimization of water use by crops under arid and semiarid ecosystems. He was Coeditor of volume 386 of Acta Horticulturae (ISHS), Adviser of the Portuguese commission for FP7 cooperation work programme: theme 2—food, agriculture and fisheries, and biotechnology, and Consultant of the International Foundation for Science (Sweden). He is reviewer of several international journals (Fruits; Agroforestry Systems; Acta Horticulturae, Scientia Horticulturae; Journal of Food Composition and Analysis; Acta Physiologiae Plantarum; Applied and Environmental Soil Science) and country editor of the Journal of Applied Horticulture. He is also Coinventor of the patent: use as a fertilizer of a plant extract obtained from golf courses and lawn maintenance (International publication number: WO 2008/044955 A1). He was Supervisor of several undergraduation thesis and master degree thesis. He was also Supervisor of Post-doc researchers and other graduated researchers from Portugal and Spain. He participated in national and international research projects in Europe.
