Cheryl M. Coffin
Cheryl M. Coffin, M.D., is Goodpasture Professor of Pathology, Vice Chair for Anatomic Pathology, and Director of Translational Research in the Department of Pathology at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Before coming to Vanderbilt in April 2008, she was the H.A. and Edna Benning Professor of Pathology, Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics, Division Head of Pediatric Pathology, and Associate Chair of the Department of Pathology at the University School of Utah School of Medicine. At Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was Medical Director of Pathology Services and Chair of the Department of Pathology. She is active in the U.S. and Canadian Academy of Pathology, College of American Pathologists, Society for Pediatric Pathology and Association for Directors of Anatomic and Surgical Pathology. Dr. Coffin is nationally and internationally recognized for her expertise in pediatric surgical and soft tissue pathology. Her research focuses on clinical and translational studies of benign and malignant soft tissue tumors in children and young adults. In 2002, she served on the consensus panel for the development of the new World Health Organization Classification of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors. Her book Pediatric Soft Tissue Tumors was published in 1997 and she has authored over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts, reviews and book chapters.
