J. M. Gimble
J. M. Gimble received his Ph.D. degree in cell biology and his M.D. degree at Yale University. After two years of residency training in internal medicine at Barnes Hospital (St. Louis, MO), he completed a Medical Staff Fellowship in the Laboratory of Immunogenetics (NIAID, NIH, Bethesda, MD) before joining taking a faculty position in the Immunobiology and Cancer Program at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, where he began to focus his research on the differentiation of bone marrow and adipose-derived stromal/stem cells. Since then, he has held full-time or adjunct visiting faculty appointments at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Baylor College of Medicine, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and Duke University. After a 4-year period in the biotech industry, he joined the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a branch of the Louisiana State University System, where he currently serves as the Director of the Stem Cell Biology Laboratory.
