Katsuhisa Tanjoh

Katsuhisa Tanjoh, M.D., Ph.D., is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Acute Medicine, Nihon University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. He is Vice Director of Nihon Univeresity Itabashi Hospital. Tanjoh was born in Kurashiki, Japan, in 1949. He graduated from Nihon University School of Medicine and received the M.D. degree in 1973. He had been working at the Department of Surgery, Nihon University as a Surgeon and received the Ph.D. degree from Nihon University in 1981. He was transferred to the Department of Acute Medicine, Nihon University in 1991 and has since been working for this department and the Emergency and Critical Care Center of Nihon University Itabashi Hospital. He became Professor and Chairman of the Department of Acute Medicine, Nihon University in 2004. He devoted himself to the development of critical care medicine and emergency medicine, especially studies about the pathophysiology of severely ill patients such as septic or traumatized patients.
