Elisabetta Baldi was born in 1955. Baldi graduated in biological science from the University of Florence with 110/110 cum laude, March 1979. In 1979–1984, Baldi completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology of the University of Florence, in April-May, 1980, was a Visiting Scientist at the Laboratory of Biochemistry of the Imperial College of Science and Technology (London) with a Wellcome Research Travel Grant, in March-April, 1982, was a Visiting Fellow at the Laboratory of Preclinical Pharmacology of the National Institute of Health (Washington, DC, USA), in November, 1984, specialized in pharmacology at the University of Milan (70/70), in 1988–1990, completed a two-year fellowship at the Laboratory of Nephrology, Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio, USA), since May, 2005, has been an Associate Professor in clinical pathology (MED/05). Baldi won several national and international awards and was an 8invited speaker in many national and international congress. Baldi was a Managing Editor of the Journal Frontiers in Bioscience, Board of Reproductive Toxicology (2004–2009) and Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology (since 2009). Baldi is also a Referee of grant proposal (including the Wellcome and the ONHMRC-Grant-Net (Australia), University of Milan, Science Foundation of Ireland, and others) and a referee of many international journals. Baldi is a Member of the Permanent Scientific Organizing Committee of Meetings of Rapid Responses to Steroid Hormones and a Member of the International Liaisons Committee of the American Society of Andrology. Baldi was an invited speaker of several international meetings. The research activities of Baldi include sperm biology: capacitation, acrosome reaction, and motility; nongenomic effects of steroid hormones; new predictive parameters of fertility status; mechanisms of sperm DNA fragmentation; prostate cancer: role of androgens and androgen receptor in progression of prostate cancer; studies in in vitro cell lines and patients’ specimens.
