André-Michael Beer, a holder of the M.D. degree, was born in 1958 in Munich, Germany. Following medical studies in Aachen, Germany, he undertook further training to become a Specialist in gynecology and obstetrics. He acquired further qualifications in naturopathic treatments and in medical hydrology. Additionally, he is certified to practice acupuncture and psychosomatic medicine. After heading a specialist clinic for gynecology and oncology for many years, he has held the position of Chief Physician of the North Rhine-Westphalian Naturopathic Department at Blankenstein Hospital in Hattingen in western Germany for the last 14 years. His main area of treatment focuses on therapy for chronically ill in- and outpatients. To this end, he uses classical naturopathic treatments and complementary medicine. Furthermore, he has conducted many trials in this field and chairs several societies which devote themselves to classical naturopathy. His publications have appeared in many renowned journals. He currently heads the Department of Naturopathy at the Ruhr University Bochum. He also lectures medical students regularly at the Rheinisch Westfälische University (RWTH), Aachen, Germany.
