Uda Hashim obtained his first degree from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in applied physics in 1987 and then received his Ph.D. degree in microelectronics from the same university in 2001. He started his carrier with MIMOS Semiconductor upon graduation until 2002. He has 14 years of working experience in the wafer fabrication industry and semiconductor business development. He held various positions while working with MIMOS starting with Research Fellow, Section Head of Failure Analysis, Photolithography Section Manager, Strategic Business Development Manager, and finally he ended up with Research and Development Manager, before joining University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) in early 2003 as a Lecturer. While working with MIMOS, he has been involved in various activities such as setting up a joint Failure Analysis Laboratory with UTM Electrical Faculty, setup MIMOS Fab 1 (6 inch), upgrading MIMOS Fab 1 (from CMOS to BiCMOS process), CMOS technology transfer (1.0 um CMOS process IMS Germany), setup MIMOS Fab 2 (8 inch), and 0.5 um EEPROM process development. He has been attached to various international research centers such as Lassaray in the USA, NUS in Singapore, NMRC in Ireland, IMS in Germany, Goa Crystal in Kyrgyz Republic, and Nikon in Japan. He currently works as a Lecturer in the School of Microelectronics Engineering and also serves as a Dean to the Unit of Research and Development, UniMAP. He is actively involved in research and development activities especially in the area of microelectronics and nanoelectronics fabrication. He has published over 180 papers internally and externally in conferences as well as several journals. His current interest is developing semiconductor curriculum for industry/training center and consultancy work for setting up a new facility of semiconductor/wafer fab.
