Sung Hwa Jhung

Sung Hwa Jhung received his B.S. degree in chemical education from Seoul National University in 1983 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 1985 and 1990, respectively, in chemistry from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). After acquiring his Ph.D. degree, he worked 2 years as a Senior Researcher at Electronic and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), 10 years as a Principal Researcher at Samsung General Chemicals and Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT), and 5 and a half years as a Principal Researcher at Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT). Since September 2007, he has been a Professor at the Department of Chemistry of Kyungpook National University (KNU), Daegu, Korea. He is interested in nanoporous materials, adsorption and separation of hydrocarbons, removal of hazardous materials, and heterogeneous catalysis including dehydration and oxyfunctionalization. He has published about 150 peer-reviewed journal papers and presented 100 papers at international and domestic conferences. He has registered several patents including around 60 Korean patents and 10 American patents.
