Thierry Chotard was born in La Rochelle, France, in 1964. He received his Mechanical Engineering degree and the Ph.D. degree in applied mechanic, acoustic, and material science from the Université de Technologie de Compiègne, France, in 1994 and 1997, respectively. He serves as a Lecturer at University of Limoges in 1998 then as a Senior Lecturer in 2002 at the same place. He works currently as a Professor at the same University since 2005. He is a Member of the GEMH (heterogeneous materials research group) and as a Leader of the thermomechanical behavior of ceramics team. He works on thermomechanical characterization of refractory materials (castables, sintered, etc.) and is especially interested by damage investigation at high temperature by acoustic emission technique. He is a Member of the “Groupe Français de la Céramique” and as a Local Correspondent of the FIRE network (Federation for International Research on refractories and Education). He serves currently as a Codirector of the University Research Institute IPAM.
