Benoit Vallet

Professor Benoit Vallet is the Chair for the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the University Hospital of Lille (France) since 2005. He is a member of several international scientific groups including the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and the Critical Care Section at the European Society of Anaesthesiology. He was vice-chair for the advisory board of PROGRESS (Promoting Global Research Excellence in Severe Sepsis) from 2002 to 2004. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals (J Appl Physiol, Shock, Intensive Care Med, Crit Care Med, Anesthesiology, Anest Analg, Br J Anaest, Infection…) original and review articles related to tissue oxygenation, endothelium and microcirculation, hemodynamic monitoring or septic shock. He recently put en emphasis on use of venous-to-arterial CO2 gradient as a complementary tool for guiding hemodynamic optimization.
