Guan-Tarn Huang was born in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1953. He received the M.D. degree and the Ph.D. degree from the College of Medicine, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1979 and 1991, respectively. From 1981 to 1985, he was a Resident in the Department of Internal Medicine, National Taiwan University Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. After completing his training in internal medicine and gastroenterology, he became a staff member in the same department till now. Presently, he works as a Professor of internal medicine at the College of Medicine, National Taiwan University. He is mainly interested in the clinical studies of hepatocellular carcinoma such as ultrasound-guided local ablations and long-term followup after treatments, and also liver regeneration and gastrointestinal emergency. He is a Member of the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists and also a Member of the American Association for Cancer Research. He has served as a reviewer of 2 SCI journals, Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Liver International.
