Mingjun Chen received the B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in manufacture engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China in 1993, 1996, and 2001, respectively. Since 1997 he has been working at the Center for Precision Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China; from 1997 to 1999, he has been an Associate Lecturer; from 1999 to 2001, he has been a lecturer; from 2001 to 2005, he has been an Associate Professor; from 2005 up till now, he has been a professor. His research interests are in the areas of precision-ultraprecision machining technology, micro/nanomachining technology, and detection technology of process automation, especially in ultraprecision processing technology of optical components (aspheric parts, complex curved surface parts) and thin film deposition mechanism of advanced carbon materials (fullerene) nanostructures, and so on. He has chaired or participated in more than 20 research projects, such as Major Special Project, National 863 Plan of China, and the Key Project of National Natural Science Foundation of China. At present, there are 6 projects in research.
