Guisheng Zhai received the B.S. degree from Fudan University, Shanghai, China, in 1988 and the M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees, both in systems science, from Kobe University, Hyogo, Japan, in 1993 and 1996, respectively. He was an Assistant Professor at Wakayama University, Wakayama, Japan, during the time period of 1998–2004 and an Associate Professor at Osaka Prefecture University, Sakai, Osaka, Japan, in the years from 2004 to 2010. He has also held the position of a Visiting Professor at the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana, USA, and the Central South University, Hunan, China. Since April 2010, he has been a Professor at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan. His research interests include large scale and decentralized control systems, robust control, switched systems and switching control, networked control systems, neural networks, and signal processing. He has published more than 200 international journals and conference papers and has been on the editorial boards of several academic journals. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Member of the ISCIE, SICE, JSST, and JSME.
