Gilbert Deleage

Universite Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France

Gilbert Deleage obtained his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry (1984) and in biophysics/bioinformatics (1988). He was enrolled by the University of Lyon, Lyon, France, in 1985, as an Assistant Professor of biochemistry and in 1998 as a Full Professor of biochemistry/bioinformatics at Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University. He is the Founder of the Bioinformatics Group at IBCP and was the Group Leader (1994–2008), a research team working on developing bioinformatics tools for predicting the 2D/3D structures of proteins. This group developed numerous methods for the prediction of secondary structure of proteins (double prediction method, SOPM, SOPMA, and HNN), a web server for protein homology modeling (Geno3D), tools for comparing 3D structures (SuMo), and a generic web server for protein sequence analysis.
